About Burbs Blurbs
Honoring Gunner’s journey. Sharing knowledge. Advancing understanding.
Burbs Blurbs is a dedicated educational resource focused on canine hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) – a rare and often difficult-to-navigate disease where information is frequently scattered across research studies, veterinary sources, and online content.
This project was created to honor the life and legacy of our beloved dog Gunner, who lived for nearly three years after his liver tumors were detected. Although his pathology report was inconclusive, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was considered the most likely diagnosis, and his care was guided accordingly.
Through that experience, we saw firsthand how challenging it can be to find clear, reliable, and well-organized information. Burbs Blurbs was created to help bring that information together in one place.
Explore ResourcesRead Gunner's StoryWhy This Resource Exists
Canine hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is relatively uncommon, and much of the available information exists across a wide range of sources, including research papers, veterinary publications, and general pet health content.
For dog owners navigating a diagnosis, this can make it difficult to quickly locate information that is both credible and relevant.
Burbs Blurbs exists to help close that gap by organizing carefully selected resources into a centralized, accessible hub – so that time and energy can be spent understanding the condition, not searching for scattered information.
Project Mission
To create a centralized, carefully curated resource hub for canine HCC, bringing together scientific research, veterinary-informed resources, and educational content to help dog owners and veterinary professionals navigate a complex and often fragmented body of knowledge.
Why the Name
The name comes from Gunner's ever-evolving nicknames: Gunner → Turbo → Turbs → Burbs. “Burbs Blurbs” reflects his playful, witty personality, and the site carries that same warmth and lightheartedness into a topic that can feel overwhelming.

Gunner
Inspiration & Legacy
Gunner is the reason Burbs Blurbs exists.
After saying goodbye, we were left with a deep desire to educate and spread awareness about canine hepatocellular carcinoma. This site is part of Gunner's legacy – a way to honor his life and keep his memory alive by helping other guardians better understand this disease, and by supporting veterinarians in educating their clients.
Though Gunner is no longer with us, he remains at the heart of everything we do. His memory continues to guide this project.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
We welcome feedback, suggestions for additional resources, or stories from other dog owners to help expand this site's resource hub.
